I am in my eleventh year in the Vilseck/Grafenwoehr area. I first taught World Geography and Choir at Vilseck MSHS, then transferred to the temporary Grafenwoehr MS to teach Band, Choir, Music 6 and US History. Finally I moved to Netzaberg Middle School when it opened in the fall of 2008 to teach Choir, Music 6, Creative Thinking and Ancient Civilizations. I currently teach all of the Choir lasses here at NMS and am proud to serve as the Choir Lead for the DoDDS Europe Honors Music Festival 2014.
Before arriving in Germany, I lived in Washington state for 20 years, taught in the Seattle and Sumner School Districts, and performed professionally as a classical vocalist in the Seattle/Tacoma areas. While in Washington, I earned three bachelor degrees from the University of Washington, a masters degree from Lesley University, and my National Board certificate in Early/Middle Childhood Music. My family is still in the Washington area - my father retired out of Ft. Lewis, having spent 20+ years serving in the Marines and the Army. My husband's family is in the New Jersey area - his father retired out of Whitman AFB, having spent 20+ years serving in the Air Force.
My husband and I love living in Germany, and have added two children to our family this summer! We enjoy working with military children like ourselves while spending school breaks taking classes to expand my teaching repertoire and experiencing new cultures. So far, we have been to 18 countries spread over 3 continents. I look forward to the new experiences and teaching moments to be had this school year!
